Therapy

While my therapy practice for weekly sessions is currently full, below you will find an overview of my policies and specifics related to my weekly therapy offerings

  • Initial Therapy Sessions

During the first couple of therapy sessions, we focus on completing an initial evaluation. We will discuss goals, needs, presenting concerns, and more about your lived experience/identities. Therapy is a collaborative, evolving experience and I welcome and invite feedback and transparency. Initial sessions are a time to discuss what therapy might look like, any questions or concerns, as well as your experience and expectations regarding therapy. This is also the time when you can share more about your story and background. This will also be the time when we both decide if I am the right provider for you.

I enjoy working with individuals of multifaceted backgrounds including but not limited to race, ethnicity, national origin, socioeconomic class, sexual orientation, gender, and disability, and am always happy to have open conversations about your needs as a client regarding feeling cared for in the experience of being you. I have particular experience working with individuals who have shared identities with me (female-identified and lgbtq+), and my clinical experience has spanned young adult, children/teen and postpartum clients.

If we decide that we are a good mutual fit, we will determine our schedule and frequency. I answer emails during weekdays, and if you call, I will make every effort to call you back within two business days. I typically only answer calls on weekdays.

  • Session costs & Policies

As a client, you are responsible for the payment of all session fees. Clients store a credit card on file through my EHR (Simple Practice) and enroll in AutoPay, which will charge your card overnight for your full invoiced balance due. Below are session rates.

    Initial intake session is $250
Standard 45 to 60-minute psychotherapy session is $195 for an individual and $260 for couples and families
Reports and correspondence with other professionals: $230/hour

If you cancel an appointment, please give me notice as soon as possible by email or phone. You must give at least 24 hours notice to avoid the full session fee. Insurance coverage does not pay for missed/late canceled/tardy arrival fees, so in the case of a late cancellation, I create an invoice to bill the card on file through the client portal.

I ask that clients who cancel sessions more than two consecutive sessions in a row provide either communication about the reason, or we revisit continuing to work together. This is to ensure my time and the time of those I'm working with is honored.

  • Insurance & More

For insurance, I work with a billing provider. I will do my best to answer questions, however individuals are responsible for ensuring their knowledge of coverage and working with insurance to best understand coverage. I cannot guarantee any specifics related to insurance, yet will try my best to support you seeing what makes sense financially. Some questions to ask your insurance provider are:

Is the provider an in-network provider for my health insurance?

How much is my co-payment or coinsurance for mental health services?

What's my deductible for in-network mental health benefits?

Is there a limit on sessions my plan will cover per year?

Do I need approval from my primary care physician?

Does my insurance cover telehealth services?

The therapy I provide is not crisis counseling. If you are in an emergency and need to speak to someone immediately, you may call 911, the BEST team at 1-800-981-HELP (4357), or go to your nearest support or emergency service.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE

Under the law, you have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Patients who are not using insurance are entitled to an estimate of the expected charges for psychotherapy and medical treatment. You can ask your provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
